Abstract

The advancement in information and communication technology powered by the internet has permeated all aspects of human endeavours including the conventional media. While several books have been written on the online media, Joseph Wilson’s book: Interactivity and the Online Media Sphere in Nigeria is published by the Cambridge Scholars Publication in 2018 that focused on online interactivity, the new media and the status of the print media in its transition from ‘shovelware’ to ‘multimediality’ in Nigeria. This 134-page is a worthwhile read that has tabled a descriptive research account of the ABC of the online media sphere in Nigeria with a focus on the interactivity of the new media. One enjoyable reading moment in this book is how Wilson gave the practical application and account of the adoption of the new media by some leading newspapers such as; the Daily Trust, Punch, The Sun, Leadership and The Guardian in Nigeria. To better understand the important ‘move’ from shovelware to multimediality Wilson was able to guide his readers with relevant theories on online media interactivity in his seventeen-chapter educational book.
